Unauthorized charges
I am so thankful to come across this complaint page!Unfortunately, I was suckered too and am in the same phone battle as some of the other people here on the complaint page.About 2 months, I too seen the same "14 day free trial" ad for Acai Berry Detox.I agree, that is certainly not enough time to evalute the pill.Especially since it is not an F.D.A. product.I got this offer off of a page that "seemed" to be on a Rachel Ray page.Well, I signed up for what I had read to say, 14 day free trial and afterwards $39.95 a/month.I usually don't fall for these sord of schemes, but it just felt right.Immediately afterwards I started to recieve an unknown call (area code from Texas) for about a week.In my house people don't usually answer calls from unknown #'s, we just let the machine get it.They would never leave a message, so one day my mother decided to answer & it was an indian man calling to verify my order of the Acai Berry. She did the right thing and told them I DID NOT want it and to please cancel it.I knew right after I ordered it, that it may not have been wise.Especially when the company I ordered from was suppossed to be in Hollywood Florida.Well, I had thought I was in the clear, until almost two weeks later, a bottle and pamphlet showed up at my door!I immediately began phoning the number on the pamphlet 866-949-0138 to NO avail.I tried calling and calling w/no answer.THEN, , (nearly a month later) this Tuesday the 25th, I go to look at my balance on my debit card and have a $14.00 balance! This company had taken four different payments from my card! The charges were $79.95, $2.17, .53, and $1.25.I couldn't believe it.The company name was suspicious and unclear, , EMP SERV 800-449-7102 with a phone number unlike the one that had called me AND unlike the one on the pamphlet! After hours of trying, I reached an indian man on the phone who would not tell me the companys name or why the charge occured. He put me on hold for over a half hour before I lost my patience and now I can't get ahold of them at all.I am trying to fight it, but my credit card company wants to wait 5 days to see if they'll honering me in cancelling it.After reading this I'm not very confident.Otherwise, I will have to wait 30-45 days to dispute this.I'm so frustrated by this, but am very thankful to hear I'm not alone.I certainly learned my lesson!Good Luck everyone!
