Respected sir/madam,
On the 21st of Nov. 2011, I deposited a check in the amount of $10, 000.00 into Capital One Bank. I was told that, the deposit machine could not read the magnet numbers on my check and since my check was from Fidelity, there would be no problems. I logged into my checking account on the 11/25/2011, to try and make payments only to find my account in the negative status. I called customer service, and after a lengthy hold on the phone, i was told there was no such transaction. I immediately drove to the bank to find out what happened to my check.\r\n\r\nI was told by the Capital One Bank branch manager, that the check is supposed to be at their back office, but that office said they did not have the check. She agreed with me that there was a deposit done on that day, but the deposit slip was left in their office and they did not know what happened to the check. She said they were going to investigate, but to my dissatisfaction, she did not make anything official, it was her word against mine. I then insisted that she should at least give me something in writing to show i lodged a complaint, she said there was nothing she could do, what she could do was to give me customer service number to call, to make the complaint. It was then that my husband called non emergency line for the police to come. We wanted to file a complaint but the police said he could not do anything since it was not a criminal case.\r\n\r\nThe manager then had to call another department to ask them what she should do, after we insisted that we wanted our money or some definitive answers. They asked her to make vector (their own terminology) complaint. At the bank we happen to call the payee to try and put a stop on the check, but we were told, the check had been cleared, by Capital One Bank on 11/22/2011. As at now capital one bank is not giving us any definitive answers, all they are doing is to charge us overdraft fees.\r\n\r\nThe Capital One Bank representatives, are so insensitive and do not care, all they tell us is that they are investigating. They do not care about our bills which are pass due now, or how inconvenient this situation is costing us. We are surprised that such an amount of check will be missing for 5 days in such a big institution, and how were they able balance their sheet for that business day? Amazingly the bank did not even have the slightest idea about the missing check until we called to question them about the deposit. |
