Simply awful
I ordered a tent from Amazon.com to be delivered to my home. About 10 days later (Wednesday) I get home to see an InfoNotice on my front door saying "signature required on delivery". The next day (thursday) I called UPS and was told that if I signed the back of the InfoNotice and left it where I found it, that the driver would leave the package. That night I came home to another InfoNotice placed next to the original. Thinking that the driver might have thought that I never saw the first, I signed the second AND wrote a note stating that I had signed both notices and to please leave my package and placed it on my door the next day(Friday). That night I get home to see the final attempt notice on the door. So I call UPS again(on Saturday)and speak with someone that can only tell me that my package is being returned to sender and I have to call the shipper to arrange for it to be sent again. I ask if there is any way to lodge a formal complaint, seeing how UPS screwed up and now my tent is not going to be here in time for my trip. She ways she will have someone call me on Monday. This morning I wake up and there is a voicemail from UPS telling me that it's up to the driver's discretion wether to leave a package or not. This person left no name or # to call her back. And NO...it is not up to the driver. When a customer not only is told they can sign the notice but it says RIGHT THERE on the back of it to sign for the pacakge to be left, and a note is written clearly asking for the package to be left, the package SHOULD BE LEFT! To get a call from some uppity supervisor telling me that the driver refused to leave it because I live in apartment is beyond maddening! That should not be up to the driver! I paid for the package and I know what kind of building I live in. If I tell you to leave it, leave it. What's even more infuriating is that I work for a mortgage company and we use UPS to ship closing documents to our customers. These packages include sensitive information like SSN's and I get a customer complaint once a week about how UPS left their package in an apartment lobby or at the wrong address or something!!! So they can leave confidential information out there for anyone to grab but they can't leave a $30 tent!!! I will never, ever use UPS again. They are horrible, inept and rude and the rest of the world should know!
