Respected sir/madam,
My son was diagnosed with Schitzophrenia at the age of 20. I am insured by UBH via my employer. I have never encountered a more obstructionist group of people in my life. Susan Dan is the client \\\"advocate\\\" that I deal with. First, while the law says that HIPPA requires a medical release from anyone over 18, that does not provide the insurance company a right to simply blow off the policy holder. I pay for this policy- and Susan Dan could communicate with me without discussing anything related to his specific condition- save for what I tell UBH. Still in an attempt to avoid accountability- they simply blow you off and hang up the phone. The second problem is that when prompted for a treatment facility, UBH magically does not do business with a single hospital or facility that treats schitzophrenia- instead you are sent to talk to drug treatment facilities, or at one point told to go to a place that specializes in treating only eating disorders in Lesbian women... nothing wrong with that.. except.. my son does not fit. Their excuse is that \\\"well we arent in California.. so we dont really know the details on the specific facilities\\\". Really? It\\\\s their list, their contracted facility? and they dont know the detials?\r\n\r\nIf you have UBH as a \\\"benefit\\\" from your employer, talk to your employer and complain. My recommendation is that your first call before calling UBH should be a lawyer-
