bad business practices
Respected sir/madam,
I was on line bidding live at one of their auctions on lot 970(THE PRAYER AT VALLEY FORGE 1866 ETCHING) and was the high bidder until Midwest Auction Galleries went right to \\\"passed\\\" and ended bidding. I sent a message to the message center immediately and only after several messages their response was \\\"sry about that\\\". needless to say I waited 5hours for that lot to bid live on and this is what they do! I even ask for an explanation and they did not respond. I called an spoke to Patty from the auction house but she said they sold the item to an on site bidder and could not give me an answer as to why I was not giving the opportunity to bid! This apparently a common problem with this company. Giving preference to on site bidders could happen when the auctioneer has a friend or regular on site they will manipulate the bidding to favor their friend. When she knew I realized this she hung up on me!\r\nThe lesson to learn here is this company does not care about the on line bidder so beware of this unfair tactic that Midwest Auction Galleries uses.\r\nStay clear of this auction house! There are many auctions out there. No one should use Midwest Auction Galleries after what happened to me!
