This company is your best friend until they have your money, then they ignore you. One of my parents was set to move in, had a miraculous recovery, and of course, we are delighted to have him stay home. However, it has been a nightmare working with Assisted Living Concepts and the Reed House in Denison, Iowa. It took a week for them to even find or give us a contract, as we handed back the keys saying we no longer would live their under this kind of management. Their game is to get the money and then lie to you. The director said she would get us out of the contract, but she couldn\\\\t find the contract. I suggested she look on her computer and voila! there it was. I handed her the keys. I wrote emails, letters, sent the correct forms, waited in the lobby of the Reed House, sent letters with return receipts, left messages, and it turns out, I was invisible. Then the bills started coming but I couldn\\\\t get anyone to talk to me at that point either. I went up one night and for all the residents that live there, only one person was on duty. When I asked how to take care of our situation, the director showed me pictures of the home made spaghetti noodles they made over the weekend. When I returned the next day, the office told us they would have the director call us. Several days later she called but was too busy with the baby goats to help me. What???!!! The next day, with all my siblings at my side, the director steered us to a two bedroom apartment, this is not why we came. We didn\\\\t want our dad their at all. Besides, isn\\\\t steering illegal, too? They said they collect double rents on units, which is also an illegal practice. The director said they would take care of it, and cancel our contract. Yes, she sure did take care of it: they are now billing us for an entire year, despite the fact that we do not have the keys and despite that fact that no one has ever moved in. The Reed House was immediately given authorization to market it again. In fact they could have had an inside tenant move in, but Reed House refused to do it. Incredible that no one has reported this Denison, Iowa business. Yet I see many complaints about their parent company, Assisted Living Concepts. Please do all you can to keep your loved ones away from this home, it is all about the money. If any one has suggestions on how to end this \\\"adhesive\\\" contract (they can cancel on us, but we cannot cancel at all) please advise! We are being held hostage while the meter keeps running.
