Melon Patch Mini Pigs Review

I paid a deposit in 2017 and stated I would like a female piglet from a particular striped boar. Melon Patch Mini Pigs said she did not have any other deposits at that time and I would get pick of the litter. I patiently waited for a very long time and was never offered a piglet from any litter. I sent a message for an update and all of a sudden she had a litter available that was ready to go yet none of these piglets were on her instgram page or website. | I asked if this litter was from the striped boar and she said no so I passed. I never heard anything else for quite sometime. I checked back in at another time for an update and asked when is the next litter for the striped boar and she said very soon. I was excited and patiently waited. I never heard back after several weeks so I went to her instagram page and I saw a striped piglet that was paralyzed with no function of the back legs. This piglet looked identical to the boar that I wanted a piglet from. | She posted that this was not a genetic defect or inbred and that this is normal for breeders to produce. I thought to myself… normal to produce? I don’t think so. I suspected that this piglet was from the boar I was waiting to choose from but I wasn’t positive. I checked back in months later and asked when the striped boar was going to have a litter she said he’s been removed from the breeding program and I will have to choose from another breeder. She also mentioned none of her current breeders produce stripes. | I was very bummed since that’s the only reason why I placed a deposit with her in the first place because I liked the look of the boar but I said fine I will choose from another litter. So my instincts were right and the paralyzed pig was from that boar I wanted a litter from. If this was not an inbred pig or a genetic defect then why did she pull the boar from the breeding program. I still never said anything. I just wished she would have mentioned this information to me that I would never be getting the striped pig I wanted. | I asked her to contact me when her next litter arrived. I was trying to be nice and not cause any problems and choose from another breeder but today Melon Patch contacted me and offered a few piglets not to my liking at all. I didn’t want red. I was paying a lot of money and I’m not just going to take any piglet. She said well you need to choose because we are going out of business and no longer breeding. I said if you are going out of business please refund my deposit then since that’s a breach of contract and you are not providing me with a pig. | She said “I’ll have to ask my business partner what deposit means.” You are just picky and we are not going to stay breeding just to satisfy you. I said I’m not picky I just wanted a female piglet and you strung me along. Anyway, then she says you have a fake name and I’m not returning your deposit?? Fake name? What is she talking about why would I provide a fake name. I wouldn’t even be able to pick my pig up at the airport then. I’d have to provide a Drivers License with that name. She’s like I sold you two pigs before you need to explain why you didn’t tell me this was you. Oh brother this woman is nuts! Total scammer. She doesn’t even know who she has been communicating with for a years time. | I have all my screen shots I can provide as well to back my story. I have talked to several of her customers today. Their pigs were all shipped out with NO HEALTH CERTIFICATE or micro chipping. No vaccinations or permit number to enter a new state. They were also full of fleas and mange. Vet said it’s not very common to have fleas on a pig but sure enough hers are loaded with them. Skin was literally flaking off and the pigs bellies were extremely bloated. | Melon Patch Mini Pigs are also not so Mini both families I spoke to said their pigs are huge. I dodged a major bullet not purchasing a pig from Melon Patch. All this unnecessary drama though could have been easily resolved if she would have just refunded the deposit since she can’t provide me a pig. I realize deposits are always non refundable with most companies but that’s if they provide you what you were paying the deposit for. She breached the contract. Total scam beware of Melon Patch Mini Pigs!!!
